Objective: Students will become aware of the features of cfnc.org and set up personal accounts.
Career Clusters
Objective: Student will become aware of the purpose of CTE, the 16 career clusters, the 7 Garinger clusters, how to become a “completer” and match personal qualities to clusters using the Career Cluster Survey.

The Career Key
Objective: Student will discover careers of interest by completing The Career Key assessment and comparing/contrasting careers using the Career Comparison handout.
What is WorkKeys
Objective: The student will become aware of the WorkKeys assessment and the type of
questions used on the assessment.
Career Comparison
Objective: The student will use internet resources to obtain information about 3 careers of interest, complete a chart and explain why these careers are of interest (compare and contrast), ranking choices in order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and make connections between top choices and personal experiences.
Career Vision Board:
Objective: The student will create an electronic vision board using information learned.

- Log in to cfnc.org
- Read information on the homepage to become familiar with the features, check out links of interest
- Create cfnc account
- Record username and password for future use
- Sign off on roster to confirm account is created

- Complete the Career Cluster Survey (15-25 min) to match personal qualities with career clusters
- Use the Garinger Pathways to explain how to become a completer, plot where they are and courses needed
- Students will SAVE their results and share their top 2 or 3 cluster matches and explain what they learned and how they will use this information
- Students enter their cluster choices on Google survey form
The Career Key
Objective: Student will discover careers of interest by completing The Career Key assessment and comparing/contrasting careers using the Career Comparison handout.

- Click “Plan”
- Click “For a Career”
- Click “Learn About Yourself”
- Complete The Career Key (10 -15 min) to discover careers of interest, pay attention to the pathway information, education, etc.
- Complete “Career Comparison” sheet
- Students will SAVE their results and share their top 2 or 3 cluster matches and explain what they learned and how they will use this information
- Student can use additional time to explore careers of interest by clicking on the career
- Have student complete a “gallery walk” to gain information about the 7 Garinger clusters
What is WorkKeys
Objective: The student will become aware of the WorkKeys assessment and the type of
questions used on the assessment.
- Use website - Garinger Careers
- Click on MORE, click WorkKeys, read and discuss
- Focus on - “How can I prepare for this assessment?” - click on link and click on blue links under Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information
- Throughout semester, highlight this type of information in your lessons
Career Comparison
Objective: The student will use internet resources to obtain information about 3 careers of interest, complete a chart and explain why these careers are of interest (compare and contrast), ranking choices in order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and make connections between top choices and personal experiences.

- Complete the Career Comparison handout
- Answer questions: What career would you choose? Defend your answer by stating facts you learned from the activity above. What connection can you make between your personal experiences and this information? Explain your answer.

Objective: The student will create an electronic vision board using information learned.
